North of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on the Mississippi River, is a state park called Trail of Tears. (Trail of Tears follows the displacement of the Cherokee Nation. There are numerous parks and markers following this trail. This park is just one of many.) I arrived just as the sun was starting to rise. At river’s edge I was treated to a glorious sight of sun and fog dancing together, while a Broad Tailed hawk watched for breakfast and cardinals called morning greetings to each other.
