2014 the northwestern states became doused with an Arctic air mass that included ice, wind, snow and COLD. The day it hit, I started on my annual drive from Colorado to NYC. On a state highway in Wyoming, going to the Bad Lands, I saw these huge, wonderful sunflowers in a field that seemed to go on forever. A u-turn was in order to photograph these wonders bowing tothe cold. (black and white photo)
