The Black Water Wildlife Refuge near Cambridge, Maryland is home to many species and also a migration stopover. It has one of the largest nesting eagle populations in the eastern part of the US. I had been photographing eagles and other birds for several days. As I was leaving the refuge a sunset started to unfold. I photographed and simply immersed myself in this phenomenon until it was stone dark. I usually don’t photograph sunsets – they tend to diminish when not in person - but this one was special.
