The Reichstag building, which houses the Bundestag (legislative body) of Germany in Berlin, is a marvelous merging of the old and the new. The Reichstag building (parliament house) is old. The attached Dome and legislative hall down below is elegantly new. Largely glass and steel, people may walk several stories around the glass windows that provide wonderful views of parts of Berlin. Up at the top, the dome opens to the unadulterated sky. The towering inverted cone that flows up the center of the dome also allows people to look down into the seating area of the legislature.
